about

Yr Welcome, the second full-length record from Twenty First Century Fox, still contains the core sensibilities of their brand of experimental pop-rock, but it opens up a few new creative avenues. “Shark Week” is a surf-rock freakout, “Sgt. Peppers” is a psychedelic trip and “Snakes Don’t Do This” is a stormy, post-rock Slint-style song — all of which add different angles to their moody, but catchy sound. The album ends with “Nothin’ But Net,” which includes everything described above, plus riot grrrl and hip-hop elements, as well as a verse from Howell Dawdy and snarky sports references.

- Scott Recker of LEO Weekly

As a whole, Yr Welcome is an unpredictable voyage of triumphant weirdness that never quite lets you settle in to any particular groove. Just when you think you've got TFCF figured out, they pull the rug out from under you with a toe-tapping eccentric riff or a bold vocal melody that seemingly comes off the beaten track. As I mentioned before, this album does take me out of my comfort zone, but in the best of ways. This troupe is really onto something fresh and exciting here, a new noise that I'm really excited about.

- Phillip Olympia of Never Nervous
